I have basing this on using 7 nappies a day, as it can vary the amount of nappy changes you do depending on your child’s age. As when they are younger you will change them more frequently and when they are older you change less often. On average you will be using nappies for 2 ½ years depending on when your child potty trains.

On average 1 nappy cost 25p

So for a day is 7 nappies a day x 25p = £1.75

For a week is 7 days x £1.75 = £12.25

For a year is 52 weeks x £12.25 = £637.00

For total of 2 ½ years is 130 weeks x £12.25 = £1592.50

So in total over your child’s nappy wearing time you will spend £1592.50

Real nappies cost will vary on type, brand and how many you buy. I will be working it out on average of 20 nappies,

For pocket nappies birth to potty on average, depending on the brand £14.00 per nappy

Per nappy £14.00 x 20 nappies = £280.00

For sized nappies on average, depending on the brand £9.45 per nappy

Per nappy £9.45 x 20 nappies = £189.00

This is for one size you would probably need at least 2 sizes so double the price

Second size £9.45 x 20 nappies = £189.00

So in total for size 1 & 2 would be = £378.00 

Most brands offer bundle prices and there are so many brands and nappies to choose from.

But as you can see there is over a £1000 saving. Even with the added cost of electricity and water there is quite a difference. Also nappies can be reused, or sold to get some money back.
