What about nappy rash?

Reusable nappies are no more likely to cause nappy rash than using disposables, your child will get nappy rash at some point its one of those things.

How many nappies will I need?

This depends on how often you want to be washing your nappies, most people like to wash every second day if you wish to do this 15- 25 will be enough may even last to third day depend on your child’s toileting habits, newborn’s need to be changed more frequently and less often as they get older.

Washing Nappies is it hard work?

No washing nappies the nappies is easy, most people wash every couple of days, separate your nappy sections place in the machine with ¼ to ½ of your normal amount of washing detergent and wash at 40 to 60 degrees. Don’t use fabric softener as it’s not need it reduces the nappies absorbency. And then line dry or some nappies can go in the tumble dryer. If you follow forums you can pick up different tips and advice, some people use the rinse cycle before putting the nappies onto wash, others add tea tree or lavender oil during the final rinse cycle.

Do I need to soak the nappies?

No you don’t need to soak the nappies, as washing machines are more efficient than they used to be most people dry-pail them, I would recommend using a bucket with a lid, you get rid of any solids and place in the bucket, its surprising on how little smell comes from your bucket, is less than a bin with a disposable nappy in.

What happens as my baby grows?

This depends on the type of nappy you have chosen with the birth to potty you would just extend the nappy, as for the sized nappies you will need to buy the next size up for your baby as they grow, as not one baby is the same there are occasions when standard sizes don’t fit you will have to buy additional nappies.
